Nicorette microtab- Aid to Quit Smoking

Help to quit smoking is available in the market in many forms. Each person needs to device his own method to quit smoking.

Nicorette microtab is one over-the-counter technique that is available for smokers. They are a kind of medicine called Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) which contains nicotine. Nicotine is an addictive substance present in cigarettes. The unpleasant withdrawal symptoms and cravings for cigarettes are due to the presence of this substance. Withdrawal symptoms like irritability, headaches, restlessness, insomnia and difficulty concentrating make it difficult to quit smoking.

Nicotine Replacement therapies induce small amount of nicotine in the body without the harmful effects of nicotine. They thus reduce the withdrawal symptoms and make quitting cigarettes easier. Nicorette microtabs are allowed to dissolve under the tongue. The nicotine is then absorbed by the lining in the mouth and enters the bloodstream. They are used to reduce the cravings after stopping smoking also. Depending on the intensity of smoking the smoker must use the right number of tablets. One must not use more than that is recommended.

After quitting smoking, one should use one to two tablets every hour for up to three months after smoking. After this the psychological urge to smoke becomes less. Hence slowly the number of tablets used can also be reduced. Nicorette microtabs also help to cut down the number of cigarettes that one smokes each day. One should use a tablet instead of cigarette and prolong the duration for the next cigarette. One must make an attempt to quit smoking as soon as possible, but not later than six months after starting to cut down using microtabs.
